About Me

Hi! My name is Madison Balk and I am a third year student at the University of Georgia. I am pursuing a major in Public Relations and a minor in General Business.
I am an aspiring Public Relations professional and I am glad you are visiting my
page to learn a little about me and the work I have accomplished.

My interest in Public Relations sparked early in college due to my passion and strengths for organization, planning, social media, and communication. My coursework thus far that has contributed to my knowledge in Public Relations and business include Financial Management, Principles of Marketing, Principles of Advertising, Survey of Accounting, Principles of Public Relations, Principles of Advertising, Reporting and Writing Across Platforms, and Foundations of Graphic Communications.

Through my executive position of New Member Educator for Phi Mu Fraternity, I learned excellent skills that have extensively benefited my skill set.
Event planning for over 400 people, administrative work and logistics for 100 new members, conducting meetings, organization, and problem solving were the main components of this position. Combining my passion for organization and planning with learning how to plan events and work with logistics for large numbers of people, this position has given me an excellent knowledge base to apply to future projects.
As a marketing intern for the mortgage division of South State Bank, I gained background knowledge of the mortgage industry and the basics of mortgage lending. Conducting research to determine which potential customers qualified for different types of loans helped me correctly market loans to each specific customer. This job prepared me for the future by instilling a basic understanding of mortgage lending and marketing to segmented publics and individuals.
